A 78-year-old woman died Tuesday after the car she was driving struck a tractor-trailer Tuesday morning in Winston County, authorities said.

Lynn resident Shirley L. Griffith was traveling on Alabama State Route 13 around 8:34 a.m. Tuesday when the 2008 Nissan Sentra she was driving struck a 2022 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, said Cpl. Reginal King of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Griffith was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck about two miles south of Haleyville, said King.

Authorities did not say whether the tractor-trailer driver was injured.

Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued to investigate the wreck.
