Bryce Young: Door Dash driver to Bojangles spokesman
Bryce Young’s journey could be described as going from backup quarterback at Alabama to Heisman Trophy winner to NFL No. 1 draft pick to the projected starting quarterback of the Carolina Panthers as a rookie.
Or it could be summed up as moving from an unrecognized Door Dash driver to a celebrity spokesman for Bojangles.

“I did that for a while,” Young said on Tuesday about his Door Dash delivery days while at Alabama, “kind of, I guess, from when I got there and got my feet on the ground as far as – when I first got there I was just learning the playbook. I guess after that, when we went back from COVID, I was driving for Door Dash.
“Honestly, I would have a mask on and a hoodie, then I would only really accept drop-it-at-my-door orders, so for the most part I never really got recognized or anything.
“It was before NIL, so I just wanted to have a little extra money.”
Young didn’t mention if he ever delivered Bojangles. The fast-food restaurant has its headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, and has a long relationship with the city’s NFL team and its players, including introducing Young as a spokesman in July.
“It’s a long-standing tradition,” Young said about Bojangles and the Panthers on Tuesday. “Just the support that they’ve had for the organization, it means a lot. It’s an honor for me to have that partnership and to be a part of that.
“A bo-berry biscuit is my go-to when I’m there.”
Young has been working at the Panthers’ training camp at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He’ll remain the center of attention on Wednesday night when he takes the field at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte for the first time in Carolina’s annual Fan Fest practice.
“I’m super excited,” Young said. “We had a little taste of it this weekend coming out here in Spartanburg. But being able to go back to Bank of America for Fan Fest tomorrow at 7, I’m super, super excited for it. Anytime you get to engage with the fans and they get to come in, we love for them to be part of the process.
“We’re working every day, we’re grinding every day to put out something that the organization can be proud of, that the fans can be proud of. We want them to be interactive and to be a part of it, too. Having the opportunity tomorrow at Bank of America is something we’re all super excited about, so I’m super excited to see the people who do come out, to see them there and to be able to interact with the fans. And again, that energy, we feed off of it, so it’s really exciting for all of us.”
