Recruiting update: More offers, commitments, flips for state prospects

Memphis recently picked up a pair of state prospects in high school football recruiting news.

Both B.B. Comer’s Kamore Harris and Saraland’s Jamison Curtis announced intentions to sign with the Tigers.

Harris is a 3-star 6-foot-1, 235-pound running back who chose Memphis over offers from UAB, Marshall, Colorado State, Troy, North Alabama and Miami (Ohio). He was selected ASWA first team all-state last season and named the Class 2A Back of the Year.

Curtis originally committed to Troy on June 7, but flipped to Memphis on Wednesday. The 6-1, 210-pound 3-star outside linebacker had offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, Texas A&M, Liberty, Georgia Tech, UAB, South Alabama, Marshall and more.

OFFERS

Dre Kirkpatrick of Gadsden City announced an offer from Alabama. The 5-11, 185-pound senior defensive back is the son of Dre Kirkpatrick Sr., who played for Alabama and was a first round draft pick in 2012, spending 10 seasons in the NFL.

The younger Kirkpatrick is a 3-star prospect with offers from Auburn, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Purdue, UAB, Marshall and more. He plans to announce his commitment before the season starts on Aug. 25.

Enterprise 4-star junior prospect Eric Winters picked up an Oregon offer in adding to his impressive list. The 6-2, 200-pound ATH also has offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, Tennessee, Clemson, Penn State, Oklahoma, USC, Georgia Tech, UAB, Central Florida and Troy.

Vigor’s Micah DeBose committed to Georgia in January, but that hasn’t stopped the recruiting process. The 6-5, 315-pound 4-star offensive lineman recently picked up an offer from Ohio State, adding to the list that includes Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Michigan, Penn State, Florida State and more.

BASKETBALL

Thompson two-sport athlete Colben Landrew announced a basketball offer from Mississippi State. The 6-5 sophomore is also a receiver for the Warriors football team. In addition to Mississippi State, Landrew has basketball offers from Virginia Tech, UAB and Jacksonville State.
