Son flown to hospital after being shot by father in south Alabama, sheriff says

A man was flown to a hospital after he was allegedly shot by his father during an argument Wednesday night in south Alabama, authorities said.

Escambia County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 900 block of Old Highway 31 in Pollard on a call of shots fired, the office told NBC 15 in Mobile.

The sheriff’s office could not immediately be reached by AL.com to confirm the report.

Deputies found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds in the front yard of a home.

He was helicoptered to a local trauma center for treatment.

The father and son were involved in a verbal argument when the son hit his father in the back of the head, the sheriff’s office said.

The father then drew his gun and fired multiple rounds, striking his son, the office said.

The son then ran to the front yard, where he was discovered by deputies.

The father was also taken to the hospital for a large laceration on his head.

The extent of the injuries of both men was not immediately clear.
