Tipsy Gipsy offers Birmingham area bartending on wheels
Metro Birmingham is one of two areas now accommodated by a new mobile bartending service.
Melissa Harper, an Irondale native, is the owner of The Tipsy Gypsy, which operates out of a converted horse trailer.
Harper, a retired special education teacher from Coweta County, Ga., is offering the services out of their Trussville location, as well as around Newnan, Ga.
“Our goal is at any event – whether it’s a baby shower, bridal shower, corporate event, anything that needs professional bartending services – to blend in with a party and take away any amount of stress off the host,” Harper said. “It’s our belief that the host should be able to make those memorable moments with their family and loved ones. Easing stress is what we pride ourselves on.”
Harper got the taste for event bartending – so to speak – while mixing drinks at her sister’s event venue in Springville.
“I fell in love with being of service to people when they’re making their most memorable moments. It’s so rewarding to see what happens in any event,” she said.
The business has three licensed bartenders in both state, and can offer packages for events.
There’s simple standard bartending; the Amelia, which is a free-standing panel bar, and the Gypsy, which is the trailer option.
Service packages include a per guest charge to cover cups, ice, napkins, garnishes, mixers, straws, bar tools, and extras.
Event stagers supply the alcohol, due to state law. Beer and wine is $3 per guest, with liquor menu for $4 per guest. Specialty drinks are based off a custom menu.
Bartop tables, coordinating linens, an infused water station and photo booth are also available.
The business’ name is part of Harper’s philosophy – of being ready to move at a moment’s notice, she said.
“If it’s a last minute and we’re available, we will do our very best to accommodate any needs,” she said.
