Tropical depression may head for Caribbean next week
A tropical wave will bear watching for those in the Caribbean over the next few days.
The disturbance now has a high chance of becoming a tropical depression, and the National Hurricane Center thinks that could happen early next week as it heads toward the Caribbean.
The wave was located in the central Atlantic on Saturday morning and continued to show signs of organization, according to forecasters.
It is expected to continue on a path westward, which could bring it near the Lesser Antilles early next week.
The hurricane center is also tracking Tropical Storm Don farther to the north. Don is not a threat to land.
As of 10 a.m. CDT, Tropical Storm Don was located about 545 south-southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland, and was moving north at 13 mph.
Don had top winds of 65 mph and could strengthen a bit more today, forecasters said.
However, it should start to weaken tonight and could transition to a post-tropical storm by Sunday night.
There are no other areas being watched for development by the hurricane center as of Saturday morning.
