Alabama nabs 15th commit in class of 2024 with in-state punter

Alabama got some good news following its SEC Media Day appearance on Wednesday.

Anderson Green, a punter from Northridge High, committed to the Tide to become the 15th member of the 2024 class. Green is listed at 6-foot, 205 pounds and is a five-star according to Jamie Kohl, a national evaluator of punters and kickers.

“STAYING HOME!!!” Green tweeted.

Kohl’s scouting report: “Green had a dominant performance in the punt competition at the Underclassman Challenge in January of 2023. He won the 2nd competition held at camp! At the 2022 Kohl’s Southern Winter Showcase he showed excellent leg strength and command of his drop throughout the event and had one of the more dominating performances of the showcase tour. He charted several 45+ yard punts at camp including a big ball of 53 yards with 4.6 seconds of hang time. He will be an athlete to keep your eyes on in the next 6 months!”

Green is the sixth in-state prospect to commit to Alabama. He’s the first specialist. Schools usually seek out punters and kickers when needed. Current tide punter James Burnip is a redshirt junior. Green will also join former Northridge alum Wilkin Formby nearby in Tuscaloosa.

The Tide’s class is ranked fifth in the 247Sports Composite rankings behind Georgia, Ohio State, Florida and Michigan. Alabama may add another commit from the Yellowhammer State on Friday when Brookwood’s William Sanders announces.
