Watch Nick Saban’s hilarious reaction to pre-game playlist question, reveals post-game song

Nick Saban is all business.

On Wednesday, during his appearance at SEC media days in Nashville, the Alabama coach was thrown a bit of a curveball when he was asked what was on his pre-game playlist.

“I don’t understand this question,” Saban said as the gathered media laughed at his response.

After some clarification, Saban replied he doesn’t listen to music before the game.

He did, however, shed some light on what is playing after games.

“We always play ‘Gimme Shelter’ (by the Rolling Stones) going home after the game, but I don’t listen to music before the game,” he said. “I’m kind of thinking about, ‘Have we covered everything we need to cover? Are the players ready to go? Trying to anticipate what might be a problem in the game at some point.’”

He explains you’d be “entertained” walking around the locker room before a game because players are listening to music to help them “relax.”

Nick Wiggins, the program director at WNSP-FM 105.5 in Mobile, was the reporter that asked the question and told AL.com that Saban came over after the exchange.

“After, he came down and came up to me and was like, “Sorry man, I didn’t have nothing for ya,’ and I was like, ‘You’re good, man.’”

Sure, Saban talked football, too. Offensive lineman JC Latham made some strong comments Wednesday about the Tide being disrespected, and Saban responded, coining the phrase “negative rat poison,” while admitting Latham’s statement was true.

Saban, however, also talked about his trip to Italy and how he tried to get out of it. He was even asked about the viral video which saw him boxing a virtual reality opponent. Then, there was the conversation about his favorite cake.

Stories about music are not foreign to the Alabama coach. He often tells the tale of his “D” in music class for not getting up in front of the class to sing, and the story he learned from Nick Saban Sr. as a result.
