Nick Saban on viral video of playing virtual reality: ‘I couldn’t land a punch, but you can get punched’

In one of the lighter moments of Nick Saban’s time at SEC Media Days on Wednesday, the Alabama coach was asked about his virtual reality gaming experience.

Last month, his daughter Kristen Saban Setas posted a short video of showing the 71-year-old Alabama football coach playing a boxing or fighting game with virtual reality goggles strapped to his head.

He was asked about it Wednesday by WNSP-FM 105.5 in Mobile.

“I thought I was horrible,” Saban said.” I couldn’t land a punch, but you can get punched. That’s the only time I’ve ever done that.”

Saban is known as someone who doesn’t necessarily embrace technology, so when he was asked the question, he needed a little help on what was actually being asked. Overall, though, it appears took an objective approach to grading his performance.

“It was a good experience,” he said. “I can’t give myself a very good grade on how well I performed on it.”
