Alabama-Texas football matchup named Allstate Crossbar Classic

Allstate will try to create “bowl season vibes” when Alabama football hosts Texas on Sept. 9. The Longhorns announced Tuesday that the Week 2 matchup is sponsored as the Allstate Crossbar Classic, a new yearly event.

“It’ll elevate and celebrate the teams and their fans sparking new memories and ways to enjoy big college football matchups early in the season,” Allstate director of consumer marketing and sponsorship Dan Keats said in a press release.

LEARFIELD Studios, a marketing, data and technology company, will provide video and “original content” in the lead-up to the game. The contest will air on ESPN at 6 p.m. CST.

Alabama and Texas played a 20-19 thriller in Austin a year ago which came down to the right leg of Will Reichard. The rematch will likely feature two new quarterbacks for the majority of the game after Bryce Young graduated and Quinn Ewers healed from a shoulder injury suffered in the first quarter last September.

During last week’s Big 12 media days, Texas head coach and former Saban assistant Steve Sarkisian said he believes the Longhorns can take down the Tide this time around.
