Kirby Smart has 3-word response to people calling Georgia schedule a ‘cakewalk’

Kirby Smart may have gone long in his opening comments, despite taking a shot at Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz for his “filibuster,” but the Georgia coach’s answer to critics of his schedule was short and sweet.

Smart took the podium Tuesday at SEC Media Days in Nashville. During one of the media sessions, he was asked what he had to say to people calling Georgia’s schedule a “cakewalk.”

His answer was immediate:

“Come play it,” he quipped.

Seven home games including four to start the season highlight the Georgia’s schedule as the Bulldogs look to three-peat as College Football Playoff national champions.

CBS Sports ranks the Bulldogs’ schedule the easiest in the league, while College Football News ranks the slate of games the 13th toughest in the league.

Ole Miss will be the western division crossover game, and the Rebels will be making their first trip to Athens since 2012. Ole Miss will be the final regular-season SEC home game and is scheduled for Nov. 11.

The Bulldogs will also have home SEC games with South Carolina, Kentucky, and Missouri. Georgia will open the season with four home games starting with UT Martin on Sept. 2 followed by Ball State, South Carolina, and UAB.
