Jackson County man shot in the head, one in custody

A Stevenson man has been charged with attempted murder after another man was shot in the head Sunday.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Stevenson police responded to a report of a man with a gunshot wound to the head on County Road 104 in Stevenson Sunday.

Detectives believe the shooting happened during a domestic argument. The victim, whose name was not released, was treated by Highland Ambulance Service and Stevenson Fire on the scene, before being transported to Erlanger Baroness Hospital in Chattanooga.

The suspect was tracked to a wooded area near the residence. The Limestone Correctional Tracking Dog Unit was requested and responded to the scene.

Travis Wade Hambrick, 38, of Stevenson, was arrested shortly after and charged with attempted murder. He is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bond.

Deputies were assisted by Stevenson police and fire, Highlands Ambulance Service and ALEA’s Aviation and Highway Patrol units.
