Upper 90s again? Here’s how hot it could get this week

Get ready for full-force Alabama summertime heat.

The National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures to climb into the mid- to upper 90s this week, which could lead to more heat advisories for parts of the state before it’s over.

Heat advisories were already in effect on Sunday for a few southwest Alabama counties, where the heat index, or “feels like” temperature, could go as high as 110 this afternoon, according to forecasters.

High temperatures today are forecast to climb into the low to mid-90s in Alabama. Humidity levels will be high as well, which could lead to it feeling a lot hotter than just the air temperature.

Sunday’s heat advisory will be in effect for Mobile, Baldwin and Washington counties until 7 p.m., according to the weather service in Mobile. The heat index could reach as high as 110 in those areas this afternoon.

Look for the hottest days to be Monday through Thursday. But next weekend there is a chance that the pattern could shift and lead to higher rain chances and slightly cooler temperatures.

Here are the forecast highs for the next few days across Alabama:

MONDAY

Temperatures could be a degree or two warmer in many areas on Monday.

TUESDAY

Tuesday highs

Widespread mid-90s are expected on Tuesday.

WEDNESDAY

Wednesday highs

A few spots could approach 100 degrees on Wednesday.

THURSDAY

Thursday highs

Mid-90s are again expected on Thursday.

FRIDAY

Friday highs

The heat could fall by a degree or two by Friday in some places in Alabama.
