Where does Alabama footballâs 2024 recruiting class rank nationally?
It’s still somewhat early in the cycle, but with the commitment of four-star tight end Caleb Odom on Saturday, Alabama football moved up in the 2024 class rankings. Before he announced his intent to join Nick Saban and and company in Tuscaloosa, the Tide were No. 14 in the 247Sports composite.
Now, Alabama is fifth. The Tide has some heavy hitters ahead of it, with Georgia topping the rankings, followed by Ohio State, Florida and Michigan.
However, each of those schools has at least 18 listed commitments, and three of them have more than 20. Alabama has just 14.
247Sports’ own rankings also have the Tide fifth nationally for the class, however, over at On3, Alabama fares a bit better. That service ranks the Crimson Tide third for 2024.
The On3 industry rankings moved Alabama ahead of both Florida and Michigan for the class. Its own internal rankings kept the Tide in that same spot.
Rivals had Alabama further down the list than any of the other major services. It ranked Saban and company’s current 2024 class 19th nationally, in part due to the higher number of commitments other programs have gained.
However, Rivals does have the Crimson Tide fourth in the class in average stars per commitment. It has a 3.79 average, behind just Ohio State (3.94), Georgia (3.88) and Auburn (3.82).
The Tigers are behind Alabama in total commitments, with 11 in the class of 2024 so far.
Highlights of the Tide’s 2024 class so far include five-star quarterback Julian Sayin from California. Sayin ranks as the No. 2 quarterback and No. 5 player nationally according to the 247 composite.
Alabama also has two other five stars in the class, both from in-state with Clay-Chalkville athlete Jaylen Mbakwe and Foley wide receiver Perry Thompson.
