Mobile police arrest man in hospital gown, riding a John Deere
In what certainly qualifies as one of the more interesting police reports in recent memory, Mobile officers were on Airport Boulevard Thursday morning when they spotted an unusual sight.
Traveling east on Airport was a man, dressed only in a hospital gown, driving a John Deere Gator utility vehicle.
Needless to say, the officers initiated a traffic stop and questioned the driver. In the process, they learned the John Deere had been stolen from Providence Hospital.
The driver, 46-year-old Christopher Michael Baker of Irvington, was taken into custody, charged with 1st-degree theft. Baker also had an active warrant from 2014 charging him with 3rd-degree receiving stolen property. He remained in the Mobile Metro Jail as of Friday afternoon under $8,000 bond.
