Rain, flooding shuts down part of Interstate 59 in Sumter County
Early morning rainfall has caused flooding across the southbound lanes of Interstate 59 in Sumter County.
Cpl. Reginal King of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the flooding is occurring near the five mile marker.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division, along with the Alabama Department of Transportation, are currently on scene assisting with traffic control.
ALEA will also provide updates.
Counties in the central-west portion of Alabama are currently under a flood watch.
