Brandon Miller finds the range for Charlotte Hornets
Through his first four exhibition games with the Charlotte Hornets, former Alabama All-American Brandon Miller had scored 50 points. And it took him a lot of shots.
In two games in the California Classic and two games in the NBA 2K24 Summer League, Miller made 16-of-48 shots, including 7-of-26 on 3-pointers and went 11-of-16 at the free-throw line. With 22, the No. 2 pick in the NBA Draft had more fouls than baskets.
But on Tuesday night with Alabama coach Nate Oats in attendance at the Thomas and Mack Center, Miller put up 26 points in the Hornets’ 97-93 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers in a Summer League game in Las Vegas. He made 8-of-15 shots, including going 3-of-6 on 3-pointers, and sank all seven of his free throws.

Tuesday’s loss dropped Charlotte to 0-3 in Summer League play. The Hornets also lost both their games in the California Classic.
Charlotte plays the New Orleans Pelicans at 6:30 p.m. CDT Thursday. The Hornets will conclude NBA Summer League play with a weekend game against an opponent to be determined. After that, their next game will come in the NBA’s preseason.
In another NBA Summer League game on Tuesday, Alabama’s other first-round choice in NBA Draft on June 22, Noah Clowney, had six points, six rebounds, one assist, three steals and one block as Brooklyn’s starting center in the Nets’ 92-71 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
