Former Alabama tight end signs with Calgary Stampeders

Former Alabama tight end Jahleel Billingsley has been signed for the Calgary Stampeders’ practice roster, the Canadian Football League team announced on Tuesday.

Billingsley is listed on Calgary’s roster as a 6-foot-4, 217-pound wide receiver.

As a member of the practice roster, Billingsley can practice with the team but is not eligible to play in games.

Billingsley played at Alabama during the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons. He caught 37 passes for 559 yards and six touchdowns and returned six kickoffs for a 17.7-yard average during his three seasons with the Crimson Tide.

After transferring to Texas for the 2022 season, Billingsley served a suspension for the first six games of the campaign and finished with three receptions for 38 yards.

Billingsley attended the Tennessee Titans’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis in May. On June 16, the San Antonio Brahmas selected Billingsley in the XFL Rookie Draft.

Calgary has a 1-3 record this season. The Stampeders visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders at 6 p.m. CDT Saturday in their next game.
