Another high-profile Alabama HS athlete leaving for IMG

Bayside Academy rising sophomore Brennen Yamane announced on social media this morning that he was transferring to IMG Academy in Florida.

The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Yamane played running back and inside linebacker for the Admirals as a freshman.

“To the Bayside Academy community that welcomed me and my family, with 100 percent hospitality, I thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Yamane wrote. “I will never forget the friendships and bonds I created at Bayside Academy. With much spiritual guidance and prayer, my family and I have made a decision for my future. With that being said, I am blessed and excited to announce that I will be transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., to play for their National Football Team and to further my academic and athletic career.”

Yamane is not the first high-profile Alabama athlete to make the decision to leave the state to continue his athletic career. Former Pike Road running back and Alabama commit Anthony Rogers left Montgomery for IMG earlier this year, while Westminster Christian basketball star Chase McCarty announced he was leaving for IMG earlier this month.

Former Baker basketball star and reigning Mr. Basketball Labaron Philon announced this summer that he would play his final high school season at Link Academy in Missouri.

IMG’s 2023 schedule includes a game at four-time reigning Class 7A champ Thompson on Thursday, Aug. 31.
