Exchange of gunfire outside Hueytown gas station under investigation; no injuries reported
An investigation is underway after a shootout Monday afternoon outside a Hueytown gas station.
Officers responded at 4:37 p.m. to a report of shots fired in the parking lot of a business in the 700 block of Brooklane Drive, said Lt. Michael Shupe. Police did not identify the business.
When officers arrived, they didn’t find anyone injured. All of the suspects had left before police got on the scene.
After speaking with witnesses and reviewing surveillance video, Shupe said, it appears that a group of males were exiting the business and returning to their vehicle.
Another male, who was parked behind the group, exited his vehicle, and began firing shots at the group. Two of the males from the group then returned fire.
All of those involved got into their own vehicles and left the scene. Investigators are working to identify them.
Shupe said they’ve checked area hospitals, and no one has shown up with a gunshot wound from the incident.
“The video clearly shows that the group of males were targeted as they exited the business,’’ he said.
