Mobile man, 69, runs his vehicle into police cars at high speed in parking lot
A 69-year-old Mobile man is facing multiple charges after police say he crashed his vehicle into two police units early Monday.
The Mobile Police Department said officers were in a parking lot on Cottage Hill Road about 3:20 a.m. Monday when they “noticed a suspicious vehicle approaching them at high speed.”
The officers tried to move their vehicles to avoid the collision, but the driver — later identified as Edward Earl McCall — crashed into one of the police vehicles.
McCall then attempted to flee the scene, but in the process collided with the other police vehicle and then a brick column, bringing his brief escape attempt to an end. He was arrested without further incident, police said.
McCall is being held at the Mobile Metro Jail, pending an initial court appearance. He is charged with two counts of 1st-degree attempted assault, two counts of 1st-degree criminal mischief, and one count of reckless endangerment.
