Security guard wounded in ‘targeted’ shooting at Hueytown business

A security guard is recovering after police say he was shot at a Hueytown business.

Police were dispatched about 2:30 a.m. Saturday to a report of a shooting at an unnamed business on Meadland Circle.

It appears, police said, that the security guard was checking the business when he encountered several people. Shots were fired, and the guard was struck in the leg.

He was taken to UAB Hospital where he was treated and released.

Hueytown police and Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies used tracking dogs and a drone to search for the suspects, but they were not located.

Police said it appears the victim was targeted.

Anyone with information is asked to call Hueytown police at 205-491-3523 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
