A suspect was taken into custody Monday in connection with the shooting death of an 18-year-old girl in Montgomery.

Kendarius Ja’Quan Coley, 21, is charged with capital murder in the Saturday slaying of Mar’Dresha Stovall.

Authorities were notified at 12:43 p.m. Saturday that Stovall had shown up with a gunshot wound and had been pronounced dead.

Montgomery police Capt. Jarrett Williams said investigators determined the shooting happened in the 2200 block of Eastern Boulevard.

According to jail records and police, the charge is capital because Stovall was in a vehicle when she was fatally shot from the outside. A motive has not been released.

Coley was booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility at 4:15 p.m. Monday. He is being held without bond.

Court records show was already out of jail on bond on a charge of discharging a firearm into an occupied building. Coley was arrested June 16, after authorities said he fired shots into the Murphy USA gas station on Eastern Boulevard while employees and patrons were inside.
