Watch strong winds shut down ChelseaFest

ChelseaFest and the Big Kaboom was cut short by strong winds and rain Saturday.

Video posted on Facebook by ABC 33/40 showed tents flying across the festival grounds and festival-goers trying to hold on to their chairs and other belongings.

Wayne Morris, the City of Chelsea’s public information officer, posted a video on the city’s Facebook page just after 7:30 p.m. saying the scheduled events were canceled because of the weather, but the fireworks would still go on — but at 8 p.m. instead of the planned start of 9 p.m.

The festival began at 6 p.m. with the Park Band performing at 7 p.m. One festival-goer shared on Facebook that the band got to play one song before weather shut down the show.
