Heat warnings continue on Saturday; when will it end?

Another day of oppressive heat is in the forecast for Alabama on Saturday.

The entire state is under some sort of heat advisory or warning, and those could continue into Sunday as well.

Air temperatures on Saturday are forecast to climb into the mid- to upper 90s statewide, with a few spots possibly hitting 100 degrees.

Combine the air temperatures with humidity levels and the result will be heat index values (or “feels like” temperatures) well above 100 — and possibly as high as 115, according to the National Weather Service.

More of the same — but maybe a degree or two lower — is in the forecast for Sunday. Here are Sunday’s expected high temperatures:

Highs on Sunday will still be unseasonably hot.

There will also be a chance for strong storms to develop later this afternoon, and there will be a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather for parts of north Alabama through tonight. (There will also be risks for strong storms on Sunday and Monday.)

Saturday severe outlook

There will be Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather for the areas in yellow today. Areas in dark green have a Level 1 risk.

Look for unseasonably hot and humid conditions to continue into Sunday. On Monday temperatures could back off a few degrees but humidity levels will remain, so more heat advisories will be in effect for parts of Alabama next week, according to the weather service.
