Mobile woman stabbed daughter who refused to give her money, police say
A Mobile woman is in jail, accused of stabbing her own daughter over money.
According to Mobile police, officers were summoned to University Hospital about 1:40 p.m. after a report of a female who had been assaulted.
Officers arriving at the hospital learned the victim’s mother had been in a verbal altercation with her daughter, demanding the daughter hand over some money.
When the daughter said no, the mother stabbed her. The victim had been transported to the hospital in a personal vehicle for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
The mother, identified as 51-year-old Sharon Ann Bumpers, was taken into custody and booked into Mobile Metro Jail on a charge of 1st-degree robbery. She remained in jail as of Friday afternoon.
Bumpers, who goes by aliases including Sherry Denise Taylor and Sherry Denise Wallace, has twice previously been arrested on 2nd-degree theft of property charges, according to jail records.
