Where is Nick Marshall, the former electrifying Auburn quarterback?
Whatever happened to Nick Marshall, the Auburn quarterback who dazzled Tiger fans and led the team to the national championship game in 2013?
AL.com’s sports video team produced a video updating fans on where Marshall is today, a decade after he etched his name in Auburn history thanks to the Prayer at Jordan-Hare and his role in the improbable Kick Six during a miraculous 2013 season. Watch it above.
Born in Pineview, Georgia, Marshall played at Wilcox County High School in Rochelle where he led the team to a state title as a junior. Also a basketball and track star, Marshall initially signed with Georgia where he initially planned to play defensive back. Marshall was discussed from the team for a violation of team rules before transferring to Garden City Community College. As the starting quarterback, Marshall put up big numbers before transferring to Auburn under first-year head coach, offensive guru Gus Malzahn.
After Gene Chizik’s final year as head coach in 2012 when the Tigers finished 3-9, Marshall was instrumental in turning the program around to help Auburn go 12-2 in 2013.

At 9-1 heading into the Georgia game at home, Auburn’s hopes to win the SEC western division looked unlikely, and a loss would all but guarantee a third straight trip to the conference title game for rival Alabama. With 25 seconds left, Marshall heaved a Hail Mary pass the Bulldogs tipped to Ricardo Louis in stride as he galloped into the end zone and gave Auburn a 43-38 win and kept the season alive.

Two weeks later, Marshall made another piece of history when he threw a game-tying touchdown pass to Sammie Coates with just 32 seconds left, ultimately setting up Alabama’s missed field goal that resulted in Chris Davis’ legendary return for a walk-off touchdown to seal the Iron Bowl and clinch the division for the Tigers in dramatic fashion.
He returned for the 2014 season, throwing for 2,532 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushing for 798 yards and 11 touchdowns.
In 2015, he went undrafted as a cornerback and signed a free agent deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He mostly played special teams but started seeing an increase in playing time on defense. He saw his first start in week 17 against the Houston Texans but was eventually cut and signed to the practice squad the next day.

He was later signed to the New York Jets but didn’t last long due to a four-game suspension after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. He was waived by the team that season.
His next stop came alongside his brother Antonio Marshall for the Indoor Football League’s Arizona Rattlers. Both players left the team before the season even started with Nick signing with the Canadian Football League.
His last stop: The Saskatchewan Roughriders. Marshall remains on the active roster for the the CFL team where he plays cornerback.
