What will be the hottest days this week in Alabama?

The furnace is set to crank up even more in Alabama over the next few days.

An excessive heat warning is in effect for today in south Alabama, and excessive heat watches have been issued for the western half of the state for Thursday, when many spots could hit 100 degrees, or more.

And Friday now looks like it could be even hotter, according to the National Weather Service.

Today’s high temperature forecast is at the top of this post. Below is the forecast for Thursday:

Friday highs

Friday has the potential to be a degree or two hotter than Thursday.

The above forecasts are for air temperatures only. Combine those with higher humidity levels and forecasters expect heat index values, or “feels like” temperatures, to soar to 110 degrees, or higher.

There could be a spotty shower or two, but widespread rain is not anticipated in Alabama for the rest of the week. Rain chances could start to climb on Sunday and Monday.

Hot conditions will persist over the weekend, but as of today the weather service is not forecasting widespread triple-digit highs for Saturday and Sunday.

Monday, July 3, will be “cooler,” with highs only expected to climb into the upper 80s to low 90s statewide.
