State Senator Arthur Orr is in his fifth term representing parts of Madison, Morgan and Limestone counties in Senate District 3.

Orr is the chairman of the finance and taxation education committee and serves on the finance and taxation general fund committee, as well as the judiciary, rules, governmental affairs and fiscal responsibility and economic development committees.

He was first elected in 2006 and is one of the few Republican legislators who served in the minority before his party gained control in 2010.

“Most everybody came in 2010 or later,” Orr said.

He recently participated in a question-and-answer session with the Lede.
