A Piedmont woman died Friday when the vehicle she was driving was struck by a tractor trailer in Cherokee County in northeast Alabama, according to state troopers.

Brenda A. Ferguson, 68, of Piedmont died at the scene of the accident, troopers said, when the 2021 Lexus RX 350 she was driving was hit by the 2006 Mack tractor trailer driven by Dylan Sorter, 35, of Guntersville.

The incident occurred about 4:55 p.m. Friday on U.S. 411 about 12 miles east of Centre.
