A Northport man died late Tuesday night in a one-vehicle crash in North Alabama.

Cpl. Reginal King of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the incident happened at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday on Alabama 13 near the 259 mile marker, about five miles north of Lynn in Winston County.

Paul T. Gonnering, 50, was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Passat which left the roadway and struck an embankment.

King said Gonnering was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
