A 74-year-old Mobile woman was killed when the motorcycle she was riding on crashed on Schillinger Road.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the accident happened just after midnight Saturday.

June R. Vaughn was riding on the back of the 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by 60-year-old Jeffrey M. Vaughn, also of Mobile. (The relationship between the two had not been confirmed as of Tuesday afternoon).

Initial investigation indicated the motorcycle left the roadway, struck a curb and then multiple trees. June Vaughn was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene. Jeffrey Vaughn was transported to USA Hospital for treatment and his condition was not immediately known.

The accident occurred on Schillinger about one mile south of the Mobile city limits, according to ALEA. The crash remains under investigation.
