Alabama man allegedly tries to revive stabbed dog with air compressor, turns self in

A Franklin County man is being held without bond on charges of first degree animal cruelty after investigators say he stabbed a dog and then attempted to revive it using an air compressor.

Prisco Hernandez, 34, of Russellville, was arrested Monday. He is in the Franklin County Jail, according to jail records.

According to WHNT, Hernandez drove to the Russellville police headquarters and said that he had just stabbed his dog. He had blood on his hands and officers believed he was intoxicated.

A check of Hernandez’s home in a trailer park on County Road 48 turned up “quite a bit of blood.” A kitchen knife with blood was also found at the home, according to sheriff’s investigators.

The dog was still alive but barely breathing when Animal Control officials were called. The dog later died.

According to the sheriff’s office, Hernandez told a translator that he tried to revive the dog with an air compressor.
