Suspect charged in stabbing death of 57-year-old man in Warrior
A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of another man in Warrior.
Jonathan Mason White was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Friday and remains held without bond.
He is charged in the slaying of 57-year-old Jimmy Allen Childers.
Warrior police Chief Scott Praytor said the two men were together Friday morning when White’s vehicle ran out of gas. The two, Praytor said, are often together.
They went to an apartment of another acquaintance to try to get gas. While there, and for unknown reasons, White and Childers got into an argument, and the stabbing followed.
White then fled the scene. He was taken into custody a short time later.
The killing happened 8:47 a.m. at an apartment on the corner of Mimosa Street and Helen Street. Childers was pronounced dead on the scene at 9 a.m.
The deadly stabbing is Warrior’s first homicide this year.
