Bryce Young reacts to Kirk Herbstreit comparing him to Steph Curry: ‘I appreciate that, Kirk’

Bryce Young’s favorite athlete is Steph Curry.

So, it comes as no surprise that the Alabama quarterback was more than pleased to find out after the Tide’s 30-6 win over Mississippi State that ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit compared the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback to the Golden State Warriors superstar.

“That’s my favorite athlete,” Curry said on the field during an ESPN interview. “I appreciate that, Kirk. That’s the best comparison I can get. It’s a honor.

“Again, I can’t do any of that without my teammates, without the coaches putting me in good position. There’s a lot I need to improve on. I have to play better. It’s about looking at the film, seeing what I can improve on.”

Young has often been compared to a point guard running the Alabama offense with his ability extend plays, look defenses off and deliver passes like he was running a fast break.

Early in the game, Herbstreit, who was calling the game, made his case as to why Young reminds him of the sharp-shooting Curry.

“I use the comparison to Steph Curry because of how cool he is but also his game,” Herbstreit said. “How he’s able to generate, I think, an awareness reminds me of Steph Curry. He’s able to distribute. He’s able to score, and that confidence with a little walk off there. That’s Bryce Young. The personality. The way he leads his team for Golden State and the way Bryce leads his team for Alabama. They look like the same guy. I know it’s different sports, but it reminds me so much of Steph Curry.”
