Mobile-area stocks drift lower as markets cool on Friday

As the markets cooled on Friday, so too did the stocks of interest in Mobile.

Still, Community Health Systems, which runs the hospital in Foley, closed at $4.22, a gain of 14 cents, continuing its rebound.

Last month the stock had nearly slipped below $3.

Automakers Honda and Toyota both took tumbles. Honda fell 2.1% to $31.23 while Toyota fell 2.3% to close at $164.35.

The biggest loss of the day, both in percentages and dollars, was Target, which fell 2.9% losing $4.03 per share to $133.81. The retail giant was at more than $160 a share 30 days ago.

The mediocre Friday couldn’t keep Wall Street from recording its fifth straight winning week, the longest such streak since November 2021.
