A 45-year-old man was killed Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 in north Jefferson County.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victim as Jason Edward Dodd. He lived in Kimberly.

The crash happened at 4:24 p.m. on I-65 in Fultondale.

Authorities said Dodd was traveling northbound on the interstate in a 1997 Toyota Tacoma. He lost control of his vehicle, left the road, flipped several times, and finally stopped in the median.

Senior Alabama State Trooper Justin O’Neal said Dodd was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:40 p.m.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating.
