Man charged with jamming Mobile police radio traffic

A man was booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail on Saturday for allegedly using sophisticated equipment to jam the communications of the dozens of law enforcement and first responder agencies in the county.

Trenton Edward Lisak was charged with interference with public safety communication and possession of a controlled substance, according to jail records.

The case against Lisak, 31, was not yet in court records, but Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood told Fox 10 authorities discovered sophisticated equipment that blocked the communications signals used by the 57 agencies in Mobile County.

“We actually had to modify our instruments to be able to home in on it,” Mobile County Communications District Administrator Robert Jackson told the station.

Mobile County E911 Director Charlie McNichol told Fox 10 communications were down for a day last week because signals were jammed.

The FBI is also investigating the incident along with local prosecutors and law enforcement.

A Mobile County judge set Lisak’s bail at $15,000 for the interference charge and $5,000 for the drug charge.

Lisak was also ordered to obey an 8 p.m.-to-8 a.m. curfew and is banned from the Tower at Ryan Park, the apartment complex where the equipment was found.
