An investigation is underway after a man was shot to death in Anniston.

Anniston police responded about 10 p.m. Friday to the 300 block of South Leighton Avenue on a report of an unconscious man.

When they arrived, they found a man dead inside the business. Authorities did not identify the business, but said they determined the victim had been shot.

Lt. Tim Suits on Monday identified the victim as Eric D. Thompson. He was 45 and lived in Talladega.

Police did not release any additional details surrounding the fatal shooting.
