Mississippi state senator arrested on DUI in Baldwin County

A Mississippi state senator was arrested for driving under the influence in south Alabama last week.

Michael McLendon, 59, was taken into custody June 5, charged with DUI/combined substance. He was booked into the Baldwin County Jail at 6:47 p.m. and released later that night after posting $2,500 bond.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office has not released information relative to what substance they believe McLendon was driving under.

McLendon, a Republican from District 1 in DeSoto County who resides in Hernando, is in his first term in the Mississippi legislature.

According to the legislature’s website, McLendon is the vice-chair of the Senate’s Insurance committee and also serves on the Appropriations, Business and Financial Institutions, Education, Highways and Transportation, Investigate State Offices, Municipalities, and Technology committees.
