BIrmingham-based Capstone Building Corp. has begun construction on a residential apartment complex in Athens, Ga.

Classic City Flats, totaling 348,914 gross square feet, will be situated on 21.64 acres, with 280 apartment units in 12 buildings.

The complex will include 124 one-bedroom units, 132 two-bedroom units, and 24 three-bedroom units, with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. The average unit size will be 946 square feet.

The complex will also feature a clubhouse, two garage buildings, a saltwater pool and cabana, game room, carwash, pickleball court, dog park and fire pit.

The developer is Graycliff Capital Partners. Steele Group Architects serves as the architect, while HFC Interiors is the interior design firm and Armentrout Matheny Thurmond, PC serves as the civil engineer.
