Family sought for 71-year-old man who died in Hoover care facility

Authorities are searching for family members of a 71-year-old man who died in Hoover earlier this month.

Thornton Womack Lyon, 71, was a resident of Diversicare of Riverchase on River Haven Drive. He was under the care of Amedisys Hospice.

Lyon died June 2 of natural causes.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said all attempts to locate family have failed and his social worker doesn’t know of any family.

Lyon is believed to be from Georgia and may have family living in south central and/or northeast Florida.

He also previously listed a home address in Pelham from 2014 until-2021, as well as Daytona.
