The 76th annual Tony Awards: How to watch, where to live stream

The 2023 Tony Awards is set to kick off live on CBS from the United Palace in New York City Sunday, June 11 at 8/7c.

This year’s award show will once again be hosted by Ariana DeBose and include performances from the cast of “Funny Girl,” “Camelot,” “Into The Woods,” “Parade,” “Sweeney Todd” and more.

According to reports from CBS, the 2023 awards show will also proceed without any writers as the Writers Guild of America strike continues.

Though airing live on CBS, those without a regular cable subscription still live stream the awards show with FuboTV or Paramount+. If you’re unsure which streaming service to go with, we can quickly break it down.

What is FuboTV?

FuboTV is meant for those looking for an alternative to basic cable.

FuboTV considers itself sports-focused streaming service. It comes with more than 100 live channels to choose from including exclusive channels like ABC, NBC, CBS and more for $74.99 a month.

FuboTV also offers a free trial for new subscribers so you can watch the 76th Annual Tony Awards for free before committing to anything.

What is Paramount+?

Paramount+ offers a variety of shows users can watch on-demand from popular channels such as Nickelodeon, the Smithsonian Channel, VH1, MTV, Comedy Central, BET and, most recently, CBS All-Access that allows users to live stream certain shows and specials (such as the 2023 Tony Awards).

After it’s free trial, Paramount+ subscribers can either select the essentials plan for $4.99 with limited ads or the premium package for $9.99 without ads. However, you will need the premium package to live-stream the 76th Annual Tony Awards.

What are the Tony Awards?

According to its website, the Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards, which was founded by the American Theatre Wing in 1947, are bestowed annually on theatre professionals for distinguished achievement on Broadway.

The Tony is one of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry and the annual telecast – the night America watches Broadway – is considered one of the most prestigious programs on television.

The Tony Awards have aired on CBS since 1978.
