Huntsville man jailed on rape, sodomy charges in Morgan County

A Huntsville man was booked into the Morgan County Jail on rape and sodomy charges after a grand jury indicted him on those offenses Friday, according to the sheriff’s office and court records.

Joshua Harris, 39, was arrested Thursday by Morgan County sheriff’s deputies following an investigation into a 2021 incident in Lacey’s Spring, the sheriff’s office said Friday.

He was booked into the Morgan County Jail on $75,000 bond, the sheriff’s office said.

A Morgan County grand jury indicted Harris on Friday on first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.

According to the indictment, Harris engaged in sex with the victim “by forcible compulsion.”
