Pedestrian struck, killed by Mobile police officer on I-10 identified

The 74-year-old man who was struck and killed by a Mobile police officer on Interstate 10 Tuesday morning has been identified.

Mobile police said Adolf Parker was the pedestrian hit by the officer on I-10 near Riviere Du Chien Road about 2:16 a.m. Tuesday.

The officer, who has not been identified, was driving westbound on the interstate when he struck Parker. Preliminary investigation indicated the officer was driving in the inside lane when he struck Parker, who was walked into the roadway, according to a release from the Mobile Police Department.

The release also said incident occurred during foggy conditions.

Police said Tuesday the investigation remains open. No further details have been released.
