A Florida man died in a single-vehicle crash early this morning in Marion County.

Senior Trooper Justin O’Neal with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the crash happened at about 5:45 a.m. on Interstate 22 near the 33 mile marker, about three miles east of Winfield.

Michael I. Jones, 43, of Palm Bay, Fla., was injured when the 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer he was driving left the roadway, struck a guardrail and then overturned.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
