Five people, including at least one child, were seriously injured in a head-on crash Monday afternoon.

The wreck happened before 2 p.m. in the 200 block of Third Avenue West.

According to Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service, at least one child was taken to Children’s of Alabama. In all, five patients have been transported to area hospitals with serious injuries.
