Alabama football releases start times for 3 non-conference games

The 2023 college football season is rapidly approaching. As the calendar turns, schools have started to release start times for their non-conference schedules.

On Wednesday, the kickoff for three of Alabama football’s four non-SEC games was announced along with the accompanying TV stations, including the Tide’s home opener and first road game.

Alabama will play Middle Tennessee at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 2 on the SEC Network in Week 1. It’ll travel to South Florida on Sept. 16 for a 2:30 p.m. start time on ABC (Week 3). Then on Nov. 18 (Week 12), Alabama will play its last game of the year in Bryant-Denny Stadium against Chattanooga at 11 a.m., it’ll air on SEC Network+.

The calendar is beginning to fill up ahead of Nick Saban’s 17th season in Tuscaloosa. Alabama’s other non-conference matchup — a much-anticipated Week 2 game against Texas — will air in ESPN’s prime-time slot on Sept. 9. The Tide’s homecoming week will be against Arkansas (Week 7).

The powerbrokers of the Southeastern Conference are gathering in sunny Destin, Fla., this week for its spring meetings and have discussed the scheduling complications of an eight- or nine-game conference schedule.
