Publix launches 8 new limited edition ice cream flavors for summer 2023

Just in time for swimsuit season, Publix has released eight new ice cream flavors.

Available in quart-size containers (as long as supplies last), these limited edition flavors include:

Marry Me Strawberry (described in a press release as “strawberry ice cream with ribbons of strawberry-flavored sauce, studded with pieces of white chocolate-flavored strawberry pecan bark”);

Nuts About Pistachio (“pistachio ice cream loaded with pieces of real pistachios”);

Buckeyes & Fudge (“peanut butter ice cream loaded with chocolatey-covered peanut butter buckeye candies and swirls of thick fudge”);

Piña Colada (“coconut-flavored ice cream with pineapple-flavored pieces throughout:”);

Hazelnut Amaretto Biscotti (“rich chocolate hazelnut-flavored ice cream swirled with amaretto-flavored cookie crumbles and dark chocolate flakes”);

Lemon Berry Bliss: (“lemon crème-flavored ice cream with lemonade-flavored flakes and blueberry-flavored swirls”); and

Mocha Mud Pie (“rich mocha-flavored ice cream with a decadent hot fudge swirl and pieces of cookies and cream”).

Headquartered in Lakeland, Florida, the Publix supermarket chain has around 1,300 locations across seven states.

Past Publix limited edition ice cream flavors have included the likes of Bananas Foster, Deep Dish Apple Pie, Eggnog and Snickerdoodle.

According to Publix’s press release, their next batch of limited edition ice creams will drop this fall.

According to a report from Tampa based Fox TV affiliate Channel 13, many of Publix’s ice cream flavors start at the company’s Lakeland dairy plant.

“We rely on trends research,” Tarisha Gray, the plant’s product development manager told Fox 13. “We rely on our suppliers as well to tell us what’s trending in their regions. When you create, you’re not creating for yourself or your own palette, you’re creating for the masses.”

Publix’s Lakeland dairy plant produces more than 20 million cartons of ice-cream each year, according to the facility’s general manager, Greg Rudolph. To generate that output, the production line runs 80 hours a week.
