Alabama head-on collision leaves Georgia woman, child dead
A two-vehicle crash in Cherokee County left two people dead Friday night.
The fatal wreck occurred at approximately 9:01 p.m. on U.S. Highway 411 near the 246 mile marker, approximately three miles north of Centre.
According to police, Teri J. Brann, 72, of La Quinta, Ga. was critically injured when the 2022 Jeep Cherokee she was a passenger in collided head-on with a 2009 Toyota Corolla.
The 12-year-old juvenile who was a passenger in the Corolla was also critically injured during the collision.
Police say Brann was transported to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Cherokee, where she succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash. The 12-year-old was also transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
